After 46 years of working in the banking industry, Randy Laycock has retired. Laycock’s career started at First National Bank of Pampa in 1972, where he was an errand runner and part-time teller. He was a consumer loan officer when he left First National Bank of Pampa after four years.
Once enrolling at Texas Tech University, Laycock started working at Lubbock National Bank in 1978 as a part-time teller in the motor bank. During his career at Lubbock National Bank, Laycock held many positions including accountant, auditor, branch manager, commercial lender, consumer lender, and most recently, senior vice-president– marketing director. Laycock was the longest-tenured employee at Lubbock National Bank, starting when they first opened their first branch on 50th Street in Lubbock. Additionally, Laycock was the first bank employee to receive the Key-Talkington Service Award given annually to an employee who exhibits commitment, leadership, and outstanding customer service that enhanced the mission and vision of Lubbock National Bank.
Laycock’s civic activities included being the board chair of the Ronald McDonald House, president of Greater Lubbock Rotary, and president of the Coalition of Community Assistance Volunteers (CCAV) whose mission included providing free income tax preparation and financial counseling. Laycock was also president of the Caprock Corvette Club, and taught Principles of Banking for 15 years for the American Institute of Banking. For more than 20 years, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the CCAV tax site, while serving on various community committees including St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Lubbock Independent School District, the City of Lubbock, United Way of Lubbock, Southwest Little League and Monterey Optimist Basketball league.
Laycock is looking forward to helping a son with a new business venture and being with family, especially his grandsons.
Laycock has been married to Lea for 42 years. They have two sons, Matt and Ben, two daughters-in-law, Ashlee and Ashley, two grandsons Camden and Callen, and one additional grandson on the way.
