James Dills, 71, of Pampa and formerly of Reno, NV, passed away, October 15, 2021 in Pampa with his wife and most of his children by his side.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2002 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmye Cole, a retired Church of the Nazarene minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. Jim’s service will be livestreamed thru the funeral home’s website.

Jim was born on August 2, 1950 in San Francisco, CA to Betty and Richard Dills. He grew up in the Bay area and graduated high school there. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1968 where he served in Florida, Italy, and California, leaving in 1972.  Jim moved to Reno, NV in the early 80 where he rejoined the military in the Nevada Air National Guard. There he met Louise Petersen, and they married on May 9, 1987.  During his time in Reno he was a very active member at the Sparks First Church of the Nazarene where he taught Sunday School, served as a volunteer janitor, and served with the bus ministry. Jim resigned his positions in the Nevada Air National Guard in 2002 and they moved to Pampa, TX to be closer to family.

He worked at Albertson’s, NOV, and TDCJ before retiring in 2013. He loved working on his yard and garden, taking care of Louise’s chickens, and spending time with his family.  He was a man who always put others before himself.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather “Paw Paw”, friend and a man who most of all loved God.

Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Jack, his sister Dorothy DeMond, his nephew Benjamin DeMond, and his father-in-law Ken Sersch.

His survivors include his wife, Louise Dills of the home; four daughters, Devina Gyll of Reno, NV, Shanda “Sami” Jones and husband Andy of Temecula, CA, Corrie Brock of Sparks, NV, and Heather Galloway and husband Douglas of Pampa; two sons, Christopher Dills and Brandon Dills, both of Reno, NV; four brothers, Richard Dills and wife Jeanna of Pampa, Bob Dills and wife Vicki of Newark, CA, David Dills and wife Angela of New Elgin, Scotland,  Gary Dills and wife Melania of Dexter, OR; a sister in law, Kathie Dills of Crossville, TN; brother in law, Greg DeMond of Bellingham WA;  in laws, Diane Sersch,  Larry, Bob, Charlie & Bill Turner, Mary Suen, Tina Meek, Tonya Matheiu, Sheri Sersch; 12 grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
