Vexus Internet: The Latest Addition to Pampas’ High-Speed Internet Options

Posted

Vexus Fiber is a telecommunications company that provides high-speed fiber-optic Internet services to Texas. Vexus offers Internet, phone, and TV services for residential and business customers in various Texas cities, including Wichita Falls, Lubbock, Abilene, Amarillo, Midland, and now Pampa.

Ryan Whitley who serves as the residential sales representative. Whitley has been with the company for eight years, formerly NTS but became Vexus in 2019. Once Vexus took over, the focus shifted to residential and Whitley was moved from business to residential.

“The focus for our company is providing the best service in the residential market,” Whitley said. “We additionally do business, but for many years, we only were able to offer businesses our service in Pampa.”

NTS was around for 50+ years, and after four years in business, Vexus took over the markets for NTS. The commercial market in Pampa with Vexus has been in place for three years. The goal was to always get residential into Pampa, but circumstances halted the project.

“I said from the beginning I wanted to cover Pampa, I wanted to bring our services to everyone in Pampa,” Whitley said. “We had to hold off due to many reasons, the pandemic halted a lot of it. But now we’re up and going and quickly getting set up in Pampa.”

Another setback for the building into Pampa was the projects Vexus was undergoing in Amarillo, now with that project majority complete the timing was right for Pampa. Vexus provides fiber optic, so what is that?

‘Fiber Optic Internet’ is network is a type of telecommunications network that uses fiber optic cables to transmit information. Fiber optic cables are made of thin, flexible glass or plastic fibers that can transmit data using light pulses. These light pulses travel through the fiber optic cable at incredibly high speeds, allowing for faster data transfer and higher bandwidth compared to traditional copper wire networks.

Fiber optic networks are used in a wide range of applications, including Internet and phone systems, cable TV, and even medical and scientific research. One of the main advantages of fiber optic networks is their ability to transmit signals over long distances without losing signal quality, which makes them ideal for large-scale communication networks.

Another benefit of fiber optic networks is their immunity to electromagnetic interference, which can disrupt signals in traditional copper wire networks. This makes fiber optic networks more reliable and less susceptible to outages or disruptions.

Fiber optic networks offer many advantages over traditional copper wire networks, including faster data transfer speeds, higher bandwidth, better signal quality over long distances, and greater reliability.

“In laymen’s terms, you see the lighting before you hear the thunder,” Whitley said. “We’re the lighting, other providers are the thunder. Another benefit is that it can be underwater and won’t be affected, weather doesn’t affect it. The only thing that will take it down would be getting the wires cut, but we can fix that quickly because we are community-based.”

Building out into Pampa has now begun the process of Borger as well, leading to a potential office in Pampa. For now, there are stationed workers in Pampa to assist both residential and commercial customers.

“Another thing about fiber optic that is a benefit is the speeds,” Whitley said. “With fiber optic, the speeds are symmetrical. For instance, if we give you a gig of Internet which is a thousand meg, it’s a thousand meg download, and upload. Cable can’t do that.”

At the current time, Vexus is laying its cables underground around Pampa. Quickly developing the coverage they can offer to residents, expected to be done within the next three to four months.

“We have quickly started building out into Pampa,” Whitley said. “When building out, we’re building the equipment to be future-proof to when we can provide higher speeds. We have already put the technology in that won’t require an upgrade when the time for those higher speeds is available for Pampa. We know it might bother some people when we’re blocking a driveway or working alongside their homes installing our equipment, but once it’s done, we’re golden.”

One of the other things that Vexus has to offer is the ACP program which is a government program that gets Internet at no charge to those that are applicable.

“It’s a nationwide program so we want to get that word out,” Whitley said. “When someone sees our salesmen going around town, they immediately think it’s something very expensive but we have a program that can get them Internet.”

Nearly anyone on social security, or a veteran, food stamps, or pension and Medicaid, can qualify for the program. The company is mailing out and providing information to residents, encouraging anyone who receives those to give the company a call to see what they have to offer.

Vexus is big on being community-based, with plans to get as involved as possible.

“In Amarillo, we do a back-pack drive, and we plan to do something to that effect here,” Whitley said. “We want to be a part of any community we are serving. Anytime you call us with any kind of issue, you’re speaking to someone that speaks Texan. We are committed to our customers in any way.”

The three things that set Vexus apart are the fact that they are fiber optic, community-based and there to serve you and enhance your life.
