Billy James Parker, 85, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Dylan Ector officiating. 

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Billy was born Feb. 22, 1939 to Eliza Ann Williams and Albert Richard Parker, Jr. in Clarendon. 

He was raised up in Open Door Church of God In Christ. 

Billy attended Carver High school and was a member of the basketball team, graduating in 1957. 

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as military police. 

Billy was an ordained minister in 1978. 

He worked for Highland General Hospital, Von Brunow, and Texaco where he retired.

After retirement, he briefly pastored the True Church of God in Christ in Clarendon under H.W. Cortez. 

Billy spent a lot of time to himself after retirement and he enjoyed watching all kinds of sports. 

Billy would follow golf, tennis, boxing, football or just about any sporting event. 

He enjoyed playing the lottery and would always buy his lottery tickets and scratch off tickets religiously.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eliza and Albert Parker Jr and stepfather, Rev. Clyde Rhymes; 3 sisters, Gladys Riley, Betty Ector, and Mary Gouldsby; 5 brothers, Alfred Parker, Sammy Parker, Jimmy Parker, Earnest Parker and Russell Parker.

Survived by two daughters, Anita Hunnicutt and husband Charles of Houston and Angela Johnson of Denver, CO; two grandsons, Jay and Jamaal Hunnicutt; one granddaughter, Courtney; three sisters-in-law, Maudine Parker of Pampa, Lillie Settles and husband Rollie of Midway, and Dorothy Parker of Liberal, KS; and a host of nieces and nephews as well.
