Manuel Zamora, Jr., 86, of Pampa, passed away on June 22, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.

Services for Manuel are pending under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Manuel was born on December 29, 1936 to Manuel, Sr. and Angela Zamora in La Feria, TX. He grew up and attended school in La Feria. Manuel entered the work force working in construction. His profession and industry would bring him to Pampa and help him raise his family. Manuel brought his family to Pampa in 1963 and has remained ever since. He later started his own construction operation, naming it A-1 Concrete Construction. Manuel owned and operated his business for over 40 years. After his retirement, Manuel couldn’t stay still, and he began working for Carter Sand and Gravel until his health kept him from working more. He considered work ethic to be a strong attribute, and he passed this trait onto all of his children.

Although he valued hard work, Manuel had a fondness for fishing as well. He could be found fishing anytime he had the opportunity to do so. There was no body of water or even a puddle that he was not going to try put a line in.

Manuel was also a funny man who had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Maria Gutierrez, Guadalupe Betancourt, Jose Zamora, Felicia Hernandez, Victor Zamora, Ruben Zamora, and Gloria Gonzalez.

He is survived by eight children, Lorena Zamora Camacho and husband Raul of San Angelo, Larry Zamora and wife Sharon of Wheeler, Melissa Zamora Cunningham and husband Brian of Bixby, Oklahoma, Christina Zamora Clark and husband Noel of Norfolk, Virginia, Rachel Zamora Murphy and husband Tim of Amarillo, Manuel Zamora III of San Antonio, Rita Wheeler and husband Mark of Amarillo, and Cesario Barrera of Lubbock; a brother, Pete Zamora of Dallas; two sisters, Janie Ramirez and husband Hilario of Dallas, and Ester Contreras and husband Gregorio of Olympia, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Maria Toten Zamora of El Paso; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; cousins, and other extended family members.
