Marilyn Powers, 66, of Pampa, passed away on March 14, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2024, at the White Deer Cemetery in White Deer, TX with Trent Tanaro, the spiritual care coordinator of the BSA Hospice of the Southwest, officiating.
Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Marilyn was born on January 8, 1958, in Pampa to Harold and Jeri Biggers.
She attended school in Skellytown until she entered high school in White Deer.
While in high school, she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Ted Powers. Shortly after high school, they married on June 6, 1975, in Skellytown. They would share over 50 years of love and companionship before her passing.
Following high school, Marilyn enrolled at West Texas State University to pursue her life-long passion of journalism.
After graduating college, she worked for various publications that included the Amarillo Globe, Borger News Herald, and the Pampa News as the Lifestyle editor.
In addition to her tenure in journalism, Marilyn was a self-employed owner and operator of TMC Enterprises and Coe’s Machine alongside her husband, Ted, for several years.
She was a talented woman who enjoyed various crafts that included needlework and cross-stitch.
Marilyn also liked music collecting, completing puzzles, and playing the piano.
She was a lover of animals and tried to contribute to the Pampa Animal Welfare Society as often as she could.
Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl Powers; and by several furry companions, Wilda, Dutchess, Tempus, and Foojus.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Ted Powers of the home; brother, Bud Biggers and wife Jody; two nephews, Josh Biggers and David Biggers; a sister-in-law, Ida May Powers; and by her fur-baby, Dash; and by other extended family members.
