Marion Barger Hunter, age 91 of Pampa, TX, died Friday, January 26, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on August 1, 1932 in Sun City, KS, the son of John Turner Hunter and Marjorie (McLain) Hunter.
On August 25, 1951, he married Lavada Joyce (Smith) Hunter in Medicine Lodge, KS. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2005.
M.B. spent his career in the oilfield with various companies and roles until he retired to spend more time at the lake.
He spent time after retirement traveling to south Texas and across the border during the winter to hand drill water wells as part of his mission to serve.
He loved being a part of the lives of his great grandchildren as well and always supported their goals. “Papa” was always happy to see the family grow and keep up with everyone’s activities and milestones.
Surviving are his children: Robert Hunter of Morris, OK and wife Dianne, Christy Robinson of Pampa TX, Susie Hamon of Pampa TX and husband, Kenneth.; his grandchildren: Julie Hunter and Yancie Brennan of Grand Junction, CO, Justin Hunter of Olathe KS and wife Lindsay, Whitney Oxley of Pampa, TX and wife Courtney, Farrah of Olney Springs, CO, Matthew Hamon of, Hutchinson KS and wife Dawn; his great grandchildren: Olivia Sharp and Mickala Sharp,Brooke and Nate Ornong, Daven Brennan, Aidan Hunter and Ava Hunter, Lacie Oxley, Ethan Oxley, Braydon Oxley, Quinn Oxley, Chaney McCuistion, Crowley McCuistion,, Delaney Hamon, and Dylan Hamon; his great great grandchildren: Lincoln, Rori and Lakelyn; his brothers: Joe Hunter and wife Carolyn, and Dean Hunter.
Barger was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother Red Hunter, son in law Ed Robinson, grandson, Jamie Hamon, grandson Mike Hunter and great-grandson Yancie McCuistion.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104 with Pastor Tom Walters officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS.
