Pampa Harvesters top Big Spring Steers

The Pampa Harvesters played the Big Spring Steers, Friday, August 26th at Big Spring.

The Steers set the tone early, taking advantage of some early season jitters from the Harvesters. Big Spring used their vertical passing game, and hit several deep shots early on, to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Pampa got back in the game by utilizing their running game, with running backs Max Neff and Dakota Nolte leading the way. After establishing the run game, the Harvesters then found some success through the air with Quarterback Michael Campos. After a better effort in the second quarter, the game went to halftime with Pampa trailing 14-13.

The Harvesters started the second half much like they finished the first, with all the momentum. Campos found receiver Jeff Schumacher for a touchdown, and Pampa had its first lead of the game.

The Pampa defense overcame their slow start and ended up turning in a solid performance, led by linebacker Austin Bruce.

Pampa held a 27-20 lead late in the fourth quarter, and the defense came up with a big 4th down stop to preserve the victory, the Harvesters first win on the season.

The Harvesters host Plainview on Friday, Sept. 2.
