Travis Boyd Tibbets, 75, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 in Pampa.

Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Zac Green, pastor at Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM on October 27, 2023 at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Travis was born on December 25, 1947 in Knox City to Ozzie Jessie Tibbets and Dela Faye Massengale Tibbets. He was raised in Rochester and was a 1966 graduate of Rochester High School. After graduating, Travis started working on the family farm. In the early 1970’s, Travis moved to Plainview where he worked for Jimmy Dean. After several years of working for Jimmy Dean, Travis started his career as a long-haul trucker. He moved with his family to Pampa in 1985. Travis drove a truck until 1988, when he became a procurement supervisor for Fluor Daniels Construction. He retired in 1996.

During his retirement, Travis spent his time traveling all over the country. He especially liked to visit Ruidoso, New Mexico and Virginia. He would often go visit family during his many trips. Travis also enjoyed fishing, shooting, and play dominos. He could often be found barbecuing and socializing with a cold beer in hand. Travis was a gifted guitar player and singer. He had a love for life that was truly unmatched.

Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Ozzie and Dela Tibbets; brother, Buddy Tibbets; and one nephew, Cody Tibbets.

He is survived by his three children, Sheila Been and husband Mike of Pampa, Jerred Tibbets of Pampa, and Steven Tibbets of Amarillo; one sister, Darlene McKinley of Groveton; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Bryan, Brittany, Skyler, Maddison, Sheldon, Ashlynn, Ava, Olivia, and Elliott; four great-grandchildren, Raylen, Brynlee, Casey, and Loriann; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
